The plastic inserts that came with this are junk, as soon as I installed them after drilling a hole and then trying to screw the screw into it, the plastic thing would just break in two — did it four times. Then it was attached to the screen and I had to cut it off. I used some other blue ones we already had and it worked perfectly and only took about 15 mins to install one. They need to replace those crappy white plastic inserts.

The grab bars have a good finish without any blemishes and installed without instructions, since they don’t include any – but it’s easy, assemble, mark holes, insert your method of choice for holding (toggle, wedge, cement anchor, etc.) and then mount the bar and slide the escutcheons in place to hide the mounting plate and screw heads. As with EVERYTHING that comes with hangers/screws, etc. THROW THOSE AWAY AND USE “REAL” ONES FROM YOUR LOCAL HARDWARE STORE. We all know that the materials in the installation kits are very low quality – wall anchors don’t grab or strip out, heads of the fasterners/screws/bolts strip due to soft metal and you have to remove and reinstall properly by buying your own mounting hardware that is designed for the surface you are installing to. With these bars, they supply plastic anchors that would be suitable for concrete block or a tile wall. However, the screws have shallow heads and soft metal. I always throw away any mounting hardware and since doing that, I have not had any bad installation of grab bars, window shades, pictures, wall mirrors, wire shelving, etc. etc. The manufacturers should smarten up and stop supply that bad hardware since the customer’s cussing will be much less if all they had to do was buy good hardware to mount, rather than ruin the installation then have to uninstall PLUS have to buy good hardware to remount the butchered device. Otherwise, folks are trying to use concrete mounts on sheetrock walls or into metal/wood wall studs, etc. There are specific ways to mount anything and the manufacturer can’t guess how we want to install their product. And, if the manufactures didn’t include the mounting hardware they could reduce their cost.

Had a slight bit of trouble installing the product because of the studs in the wall of my house but after finding some new equipment and wingnuts at the local Lowe’s I was able to install it perfectly and it now has a great hold. Would definitely recommend.

Very wobbly. Not sturdy at all.

The metal is thinner than a car door is made of. Very light in weight. I am afraid if I grab it in an emergency they will crumple and pull out of the wall. I am going to install anyway, but I am going to mount it with a better sleeve and screws I know are sturdy. If they fail I will update. I am seriously handicapped, these were intended to aid my entering the shower. I am going to shop for something else for the other side.

I would have given them perfect ratings but the 48 inch bars came with no mounting hardware! The 24 inch bars I bought eariler had everything included. I have reordered and hope I get everything this time. I also recommend direct stud or toggle screws for the install.

seems to work good, easy installations but the 6 mounting screws they supply are crap. 2 broke just mounting the mounting plate. if they break that easily I don’t want to depend on them supporting the weight of a person using it so I replaced them with 6 good sturdy screws. i suggest you do too.

One part was sent damaged and wouldn’t go on the wall correctly. Asked for a replacement and it was sent promptly (excellent) but then I had to drive 30 miles to return the old part (bad). The grab bar works well now.
