These are great little hinges! Instead of a bulky door closer these neat hinges do the trick! What I really like about these hinges is that they are actually (not documented though) three-way hinges: they can act as a regular hinge if you remove the pin, as a closing hinge if you follow instructions, and as an opening hinge if you wind it in a different direction. I have one door in the house that I like to be open all the time, but wind used to close it when we open windows. Now it stays open until I close it myself. The rest of the doors are self-closing now. Love the hinges!

Superior quality and very well made. A little bit of confusion installing it because there were two small cylinders that were included but not mentioned in the instructions. Instructions say to fit the long cylinder into a hole, which I did, and then the instruction say to break it off but ignore that. The long piece doesn’t break off; it bends. Just use one of the two short pieces that are included and not mentioned. So you use the Allen wrench to twist the top to the point where you can place the LONG piece into the hole that causes the door to swing back as fast as you want, then twist the Allen wrench enough to remove the LONG piece (holding the position of the inner part in place so the hole remains visible) and push a SHORT piece into that same hole and then just leave it (or you can cut off the excess that sticks out with a Dremel tool).

First time installing a self closing hinge and it was fairly simple. The build is very sturdy and all the hardware is included. It was slightly thicker that the current hinge on the door, but it ended up fitting well. If your current fitment is tight, you might have to sand or shave some wood off the inside of your frame. Aside from that, works like a charm!

I installed this hinge over a month ago and the tension is just as good as when it first went in. I have a heavy solid pine and glass interior office door, and this hinge closes it perfectly by itself 90 degrees. Adjustment of the tension was easy with the included pins, and installation was simple and took < 15 minutes from start to finish. Instructions were clear and easy to follow.

The hinge is sturdy, it self closes like it should, and the finish on it is very good. Intsillation was quick and easy. Setting the spring per instructions was a breeze. I like this product and would buy it again.

I ended up liking this more than I thought. Most of the items I buy recently take way longer than it should for various reasons including complicated instructions or require additional tools. In this case I only needed a cordless drill and a a long bit extender, which was needed when the door was opened 90 degrees to remove and tighten the screws.1) Remove all the screws from the middle hinge. I choose this one so it would be balanced. If I need to add, door must be opened to remove screws, well this project just isn’t for you. :-)2) Place the new hinge in the pocket of the former hinge with the allen adjustment hole facing up. I was lucky enough for everything to fit and the even the holes alligned about 99%. Lettering should face outwards which wasn’t mentioned in the directions.3) Alternating between the frame and door screws, tightened all screws most of the way but left a little slack for positioning.4) When it was time to tighten, ensure your drill torque setting is just enough to tighten but not over tighten. Final tightening with a screwdriver is the safest method IMHO.5) Use the allen wrench to move the top holes clock wise. 1st and 2nd settings are probably too weak so start on the 3rd. I used the allen wrench to move the mechanism and put the long pin in. Long pin is easier to remove than the short pin.6) Once you find the right tension, use the allen wrench to move the holes enough to remove long pin and insert one of the short pins. Door closes reliably from the 75 degree position and wider. Otherwise the door closes but doesn’t lock. No squeaky noise either as is the case with other types of closers.Whole installation in under 10 minutes. Very pleased with results and didnt end up with any injuries which happens occasionally with home improvement projects. lolI even used the included screws instead of my own. Highly recommended.Only comment I would make is I’m not sure if one hinge would be enough for a heavier steel door. Would probably recommend two hinges in that case.UPDATE: Moved the pin one more setting to get a stronger close. Keep in mind air pressure will also affect if the door closes all the way. I noticed better success with the window in same the room open just a crack.

Easy to installWorks greatShuts the door! Now I don’t have to complain about an open door. I may buy another or two : )

  10. Finbar

Closes the door slowly and easily. Most people don’t even know this hinge is spring loaded. It looks just like the other two on the door.
