The piece with the peg that ends up going between the bracket with the arms with teeth is very sturdy. It is a steel rectangular peg. Stronger than the original piece that it is replacing. The original piece was basically an L bracket which was of fairly thin metal; thin enough to have broken. The new piece with the steel peg will not break.

Sectionals are always sliding apart. This installed easily. I was worried because on one side I only had a half-inch of wood to screw into, but the 2 holes were sufficient. Just put the heavier side where you have more wood. (Hint. Put painter’s take on the device, and mark the tape. Then put the tape on the sofa where you want to drill. Drill small holes so you don’t split the wood in your sofa.)
