Thinking a little outside the box (no pun intended) I built a large tack chest, and used these hinges for two drawers. They did a great job both in terms of holding their respective drawers and in providing access to the chest area below. Everything¡¯s sturdy and glides easily. I¡¯m really glad I employed them.

I installed these by myself using a drill and #8 3/4 multi purpose screws. I built a solid oak coffee table and have been wanting a lift top for a while. I did have to do extensive measuring to make sure everything lined up and that the table top was level. I attached the hinges to the inside of the box of my coffee table first and then laid the wood on top, making sure it was level, and marked the points to put the screws in on the underside. I ended up removing the pneumatic do-hicky (not sure what that’s called) using a socket wrench and that made it much easier to screw from the underside. It is more sturdy than I thought it would be and it goes up and down very smoothly. These hinges are supporting a 39″x16″ piece of solid oak and I can lift it up and down with one hand no problem…haven’t had too much issue with twisting. I am an amateur furniture maker, so I feel pretty good about the finished product. Definitely a good purchase! Just make sure to measure the hinges before making your design– I made that mistake and had to go out for more red oak after realizing these hinges didn’t have enough clearance. Oh well, you live and learn! You can watch the video to see the hinges in action.

I used these brackets to make a coffee table out of an old dining room table. It lifts up the top and holds it well but with the weight of lifting a full sized table top it is more than the bracket pair is designed to move so it¡¯s a little delicate to get it to move between coffee table height and dining table height but it works. I plan on adding another pair of brackets to make the lifting/lowering action easier.

I haven’t had time to start my project yet but this is what I had in mind when I made the order

My husband created a kitchen island and wanted to include storage and a wine rack. His solution included a countertop that he wanted to lift. This mechanism is perfect. We can even leave items on the counter when needing to access items in the storage compartment.

Excellent Value!!! The only thing lacking is the ability to take some of the slack out of the cylinders, while in the collapsed position. Maybe an adjustable eyelet on one end.

Made a standing desk with these. They work well, as expected. The hole layout on the top is asymmetrical, but tolerable.

Love these lift top hinges. Built a coffee table and wanted the added benefit of having storage for blankets. My wife loves blankets. To install them I first laid out the table top upside down, then placed the frame of the table on it. I predrilled and mounted screws. The top is easy to open with maybe 5 pounds of force. Closing is easy as well with maybe 10 pounds of force needed. When open or shut the table top is solid with no wiggle side to side.

It took a bit of figuring but ended up working perfect for a lift up shelf in a vintage cabinet I was refinishing!

A maximum weight should be addressed.
